Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and growth minded leader who embraces the vision we have for our estimation team as a “profit center” rather than merely a group of people running costing exercises. We would like our Director of Estimation to develop, implement, and demonstrate strategies and processes that will guide our estimation department to operate as our vision of “profit center”. Our Director of Estimation will lay the foundations for a new system of processes that will take our estimation team to the next level.        Allows our leadership team the ability to make quick and informed bid/no bid decisions on project opportunities

Provides ample time for reviewing and polishing the final pricing and technical proposal before submission

·         Teach, train, and grow our team of experienced and entry-level estimators to execute estimation tasks and strategies that contribute to the overall vision of the estimation department, as well as the company

·         Assemble strategic in-house estimation teams and assign tasks based on strengths suited to each member

·         Establish, grow, and document a strong network of reliable vendors and subcontractors to be used as a resource for our project management and estimation team

·         Assemble strategic teams of vendors and subcontractors for each project based on price, availability, and production capabilities as best suited to a particular project’s needs

Day-to-day duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Qualify incoming signage and exhibit project opportunities that align with our organizational focus

  • Provide input/advice on project cost, selling price and after-job cost analyses

  • Ensure that all project estimates are computed with detailed competitive costs (material & labor) in a timely manner to increase strike rate of winning projects

  • Reach out to new vendors and subcontracting partners to enhance our network with strong, long-term relationships

·         Provide technical input for use in preparing compelling and detailed technical responses

·         Transfer the estimation thought-process information to our project management and procurement team to reduce costs and increase profit margin

·         Develop and propose proactive value engineering methods on all large projects to increase revenues to the company

·         Get involved, brainstorm, and contribute during the design build phase of projects through input in value engineering, reduction of non-conformance and cost monitoring

  • Oversight of the entire estimating process and contribution to establishing standardized procedures, methods and processes for estimating and training estimation personnel in the use of the same

  • Assist in the development of tools, data bases, spread sheets, documentation, templates, and systems that will help grow our estimation department to the next level

  • Develop cost-engineering support systems to ensure the on-time or ahead-of-time completion of any cost engineering exercises
