The Experiential Graphic
Design Director is responsible for leading the design effort of the
Experiential Design team within the office. Responsible for leading all design
phases for projects, establishing the vision, leading the team, and providing
client connection and direction. Supports business development via pitches,
working as a shared resource for the entire office (including interior and
Experiential Design teams). Responsible for maintaining client relationships
and account leadership. Leads and manages the local / regional Experiential
Design team. Regularly mentors team on design skills and for career growth.
Regularly connects with IA Design Directors for continuity of integrated
approach in design. Specific responsibilities will include:
Oversees the design and development of Experiential design. Manages design presentations and deliverable schedules.
Assists Director in managing the budget, scope and schedule for the Experiential design portion of a project. Ensures adherence to set budget and immediately informs Manager of any potential variances to the budget.
Mentors the work of the Experiential Design team and Job Captain. Oversees tasks and provides feedback on work product.
Creates and maintains key client relationships. Creates innovative, creative and complete design concepts and presents to clients. Conducts client interviews and vision sessions to determine Experiential design requirements.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Graphics, Industrial Design or Interior Design: equivalent experience may be substituted
10+ years’ progressive experience working on commercial design projects within the Experiential design field, with extensive creative leadership and mentorship experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Advanced sketching and rendering skills
Expert knowledge of working drawings and procedures
Demonstrated competency in all phases of environmental graphics
Ability to coordinate custom solutions with fabricator and installer
Understanding of branding concepts and the potential for their application to, relationship with and integration into the built environment
Expert visual sense and understanding of typography, composition, multiple media platforms, legibility, standards development, documentation, fabrication and implementation
Advanced MS Office Suite skills
Expert Adobe Creative Suite skills
Revit experience a plus
Excellent verbal, graphic and written communications skills
Extensive presentation and graphic communication skills, able to fully express design concepts to clients
Proven ability to work collaboratively
Excellent project and relationship management skills
For the majority of the time all staff will be working sitting in an office with limited physical requirements. On occasion individuals will be required to visit a client site to perform site verifications and field surveys. This may require individuals to bend, stretch, twist and reach. The position is not subject to occupational and safety risks.
